Nearly twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the state, bringing strong winds hitting 109km/h.

Locals witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities verified that various areas across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both areas.
