Ireland began turning out for the side during preseason this season through close friend and current Wythenshawe player Blake Norton, and the former Republic of Ireland midfielder then asked other former professionals, who all play in a midweek small-sided match, to participate.

"That's a bit different but then, I love sprinting and just go inside - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I tell my centre-back 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to continue attacking.

"That movement is what I'm seeking. It's good fun."

In addition to Cisse's six scores on debut, Ireland has netted 8 in 3 appearances for the side, while Boyd hit 5 on his debut match and Joleon Lescott, a defender by position, scored a triple in one match up front.

The team are top of the Top Division with three wins from three and a GD of plus nineteen.

"The opponents were all really nice, shaking our hands after the match - it was like playing a bunch of regular fellas.

"Now we can't wait for the second match."
